For a very long time many years ago, I tried to come up with a “Mission Statement” that would describe the philosophy of our high quality general dentistry practice and how we treated our patients. I spent weeks and weeks thinking about our dental practice and mission; hour upon hour trying to put to pen my thoughts. I wrote, re-wrote, edited and re-edited, but nothing seemed to describe what I wanted to say.
Then, in of all the strangest place you could imagine, a car magazine, I read the words that fit me and what I wanted to say. The words conveyed my thoughts exactly and since that time 13 years ago, the following has been my (plagiarized) mission statement:
“Strive for perfection in everything.
Take the best that exists and make it better.
If it doesn’t exist, create it.
Accept nothing nearly right or good enough.”
